2024 Spring Program Offerings

Kindergarten/1st Grade Clinic

The Ridgewood Lacrosse Association is excited to continue with the popular clinic program for Kindergarten and First Grade Girls and Boys during the Spring 2024 season. The clinic is intended to introduce kids to the game of lacrosse in a fun and safe environment. No equipment is required and a stick will be made available for those who don’t have one of their own.

2nd Grade Lacrosse Clinic

All second-grade girls may participate in this program. This program focuses on teaching the basics of the game (throwing, catching, rules of the game) in a fun and positive clinic environment.  There will be 1 session per week. The specific dates and times will be sent out to all participants before the start of the season.

Each player must provide her own girls lacrosse stick, mouth guard and protective eyewear (goggles).

3rd and 4th Grade House League

(Travel option for 4th grade-details to follow -- no additional fee)

All girls in the 3rd grade and 4th grade may participate in our "In-Town" House League.  All 3rd and 4th grade registrants will be divided into four teams at each grade level.  There will be one practice (weeknight) and one game (Saturday) per week.  Instruction at this level will emphasize basic lacrosse skills while also introducing strategy and how to play various positions.  Playing time during practices and games should be equal and all players will be given the opportunity to try any position during the course of the season. Games will be played utilizing an 8 v 8 format on a shortened field.  The 3rd and 4th Grade House League will start in early April and conclude in late May.

Each player must provide her own girls lacrosse stick, mouth guard and protective eyewear (goggles).

5th Grade Travel Program

At the 5th grade level, the game becomes more competitive and teams will be split into two evenly leveled teams.  Instruction continues to reinforce basic lacrosse skills as well as strategy and positions.  Over the course of the season, it is expected that all players will get equal playing time.  All players should get the opportunity to try different positions throughout the course of the year.  Each travel player will participate in approximately 10-12 regular season games prior to the conclusion of the season. Each player must provide her own lacrosse stick and protective eyewear (goggles).  The practice season will likely start in mid-March depending upon field conditions as determined by the Village Parks & Recreation department.  The travel game season will start in early April and end Memorial Day weekend. Practices will be held two times a week (typically weeknights) and games will be played both during the week and on weekends. If a game is scheduled on a practice night, there will not be practice on that night and a Friday or weekend practice time will be offered at the parent coaches’ discretion.  Additionally, at the discretion of the coach, and upon field availability additional practices might be added.

6th Grade Travel Program

Participants will be divided into two equal teams.

At the 6th grade level, instruction continues to reinforce basic lacrosse skills as well as strategy and positions.  The travel game season will start early April and end Memorial Day weekend. The practice season will likely start mid-March depending upon field conditions as determined by the Village Parks & Recreation department.  Practices will be held two times a week (typically weeknights) and games will be played both during the week and on weekends. If a game is scheduled on a practice night, there will not be practice on that night and a Friday or weekend practice time will be offered at the discretion of the coach.  Additionally, at the discretion of the coaches, and upon field availability additional practices might be added.
